A range of semiautomatic blister packing machines are available for clinical trials, stability testing, pack development and low volume production. All the machines use pre-cut sheets of either thermoformable or all aluminium base material with conventional lidding also pre-cut to the appropriate size.
The tooling is simple and easy to fit and remove, requiring no tools. Changeovers to produce different sizes and styles of blisters are extremely straightforward, requiring relatively little special skills.
The range extends from a bench top Twin Pack, a manually operated machine which has a heated station to thermoform and then seal blisters made from pre-cut sheets, cut in the adjacent, integrated cold station. This is a low output, economically priced unit exclusively for thermoformed packs of regular sizes identical to those produced on larger production machines.
The In-Pack machine also has two stations but is pneumatically operated and is mounted on a mobile trolley. The pneumatic operation increases the output of the machine and allows cold formed, all aluminium blister packs to be produced by means of appropriate change parts. It is also possible to simulate strip packing on this machine for trials and pack stability tests by using special tooling. Again, the quality of the blister is indistinguishable from those made on a production machine and the system has a larger platen to give a wider range of pack size possibilities.
The Fantasy machine has the largest platen which is used for all the forming, sealing and cutting operations of pack production in sequence. Also pneumatically operated, the unit can be bench mounted or supplied with an integral trolley, The larger platen allows multiple blisters per cycle or large packs with deep drawers in both thermoformed and cold formed format.
The Fantasy Plus is fitted with a PLC and printer to record and print out data on the packs being produced, including the settings of all the machine parameters to allow subsequent repeatability.
The Simpaty de-blistering machine can handle a wide range of packs without change parts for product recovery from blisters.
Packs with up to seven rows of product can be handled, with individual blisters being manually fed into the machine where rotary knives pre-score the lidding material before guides push the product from the pack. The emptied blisters are fed to a collection bin while the product is diverted to a separate collection hopper.
