A range of tablet press machinery is available from Dott Bonapace including:

Single Punch Fully Automatic Bench Top Tablet Press

This CPR-6 single punch tablet press is one of the smallest and quietest on the world market and its capacity makes it ideal for situations where small batch runs

are required. The unit can produce tablets with a maximum diameter of 16mm with a fill depth of up to 17mm.

The CPR-6 is particularly aimed at laboratories, pharmacies, hospitals and pharmacy schools in universities where a fully automatic yet compact and quiet

tablet press is needed. Despite its compact size, and weight (only 80kg), the output of the machine is up to 2,500 tablets per hour, and its robust construction allows it to handle even the most abrasive of materials requiring compaction.

It is constructed from stainless steel and is easy to operate and clean. The unit is built in two totally separate parts – a compression area protected by security panels and a separate mechanical area.  The main drive motor is enclosed within a stainless steel panel which can be opened to allow access to the manual hand wheel so the machine can be turned over easily.

The machine is equipped with independent weight and hardness adjustment capabilities and even though it is so small and compact, the CPR-6 can exercise a compression force of up to 2.5 tonnes.  It comes complete with a variable speed control and tablet counter yet requires only a single phase power supply.

To meet the demands of universities and research laboratories, the CPR-6 is available in instrumented form. Load cells are fitted so that the machine can detect

and record the compression force on the upper and lower punches, as well as the position of both punches and the ejection force required to discharge the tablet from the die.  Data is displayed as a value of the maximum force in the format of a series of curves on a Cartesian axis on a PC included with the system.

This data allows the operator to evaluate the compaction of the powder granules and therefore the compressing force necessary to obtain the required tablet hardness.

The unit is supplied as a complete package, including a dedicated trolley, a PC with screen, keyboard and mouse and the required software to record and display all the necessary data.

The instrumentation can display the forces on both upper and lower punches in real time with peak values being displayed for each cycle. This can be recorded for a number of cycles, and displayed on screen for analysis. The angular position of the machine and the vertical location of the upper punch relative to its entry point into the die during the compression phase can be shown. This data can also be extracted for further analysis using MS Excel.  The instrumented tablet press benefits from all the features of the standard version.

Because of the nature of the load cells, calibration can be carried out off site. The cells and amplifiers are simply returned to the manufacturer, recalibrated independently from the machine and then refitted, eliminating the need for site visits for regular calibration of the instrumented machines.

Rotary Fully Automatic bench Top Tablet Press

A bench top fully automatic rotary tablet press developed for use in research and development laboratories, clinical trial production and small scale commercial production is available from Dott Bonapace.

The unit is available in two versions, a 10 station machine which accepts standard B series tooling with an output of up to 18000 tablets per hour for products up to 16mm in diameter or as an eight station machine which accepts D series tooling with the same output per hour for products up to 22 mm in diameter.

This machine is of a compact yet sturdy design with the option of having the turret made completely of 304 stainless steel. It has a compression force of up to 6.0 tonnes, while a pre-compression force of 0.5 tonnes can be achieved.

Independent weight and hardness controls by means of graduated hand wheels make setting up easy and repeatable. The machine can be run with only one punch fitted or with a full set of punches, making small scale development simple and affordable, with quick and easy tooling changes in less than 30 minutes.

A simple panel controls all the machine functions, including the adjustment of the running speed, while easy open doors allow simple access to all parts of the unit.

A range of options are available including an integrated stainless steel support carriage, a dust extraction pump and a rotary forced feeder to assist with powder flow into the dies.
